Reflections by the Pond

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

So now we have a famous former athlete, at one time the image of ideal physical manhood, who "identifies" as a woman, and an activist woman of impeccably white pedigree who "identifies" as a black woman.
And perhaps as never before have evangelical Christians enjoyed such an advantage over the rest of society.
In case you haven't noticed, this world, in which believers must temporarily dwell, is currently wallowing in the septic bilge of postmodernism, political correctness, perceived reality, "microaggressions" and "trigger warnings," and other insanities. This bilious, quicksand culture has painted us into a verbal corner: Think the wrong thought and you might lose your teaching position; say just about anything and you could be fired. And truth is nothing more than squishy Silly Putty—something different for each person.
If I was born male, but would rather be a girl, then my "truth" is that I am female. If I was born Caucasian, but would rather be Negroid, then my "truth" is that I am black. And if you disagree with that, you are hateful, bigoted, sexist, racist, et al. Truth is whatever I say it is, and you must not just respect my truth, but even celebrate it. In such a ridiculous, confused time can anyone seriously deny that the roots of this idiocy are in the liberal public education system? If little Johnny thinks 2 + 2 = 5 then that is perfectly all right. Good for his self-esteem. Never mind that adult Johnny will not be able to get a job.
And if a white woman claims to be black, posing for pictures with a black man she falsely claims is her father, and an adopted brother she falsely claims is her son, then Right on, sister, for your brave advocacy. Never mind that she is no more than an inveterate charlatan and liar.

We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
1 John 5:19-20
This world must be a horrible, treacherous place to live for those without Christ. It is as if the fools of this world have purposely chosen to trudge along in soupy quicksand, when high, dry ground and a clear path are readily and easily available. Why would so many cling so religiously to a slippery, ever-shifting mélange of P.C. twaddle, when the high ground of eternal truth is there for the asking? Perhaps the depravity of man has at last become undeniable.
There is indeed literal, objective truth, but little of it can be found on the highways and byways of planet earth, in the cross-bred backwaters of public universities, in the regurgitated bilge of today's media. Apparently few there are searching for the real thing; they are content in their blindness. And willingly, doggedly blinkered they are, for God has not made secret His goodness and truth in creation, but revealed it to all who wish to find it.
The works of His hands are truth and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
They are upheld forever and ever;
They are performed in truth and uprightness.
The truth about God, the truth about salvation in His Son, the truth about His creation, the truth about people—the truth about everything is right there on the pages of His written word.
True freedom is not to be found in the greasy alleyways of today's culture. It will not be found in the cloistered, expression-regimented halls of the university, nor will it be found in the liberal doctrine espoused by a biased, sycophant media. Freedom is never found under fascism.
True freedom is found only under God, through Christ.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
A life has true, substantial joy only when it knows and subscribes to the true, objective truth—when it is conducted according to eternal principles. God alone is, has, and dispenses that truth.
